La Rougesse

La Rougesse

A flower arrangement under the cliff

Tucked away in a quiet valley amongst orchards and pasture land, La Rougesse is built into limestone cliffs. These cliffs provide a backdrop for its two private, secure, south facing terraces with their vines and wallflowers.

The large garden with surrounding cliffs

There is a large lawned garden, with swings and see-saw. This is suitable for outdoor games including archery. Although the setting is rural, the house is very near to Fresnay sur Sarthe with all its amenities.

The dining room

Inside this strikingly individual house there are magnificent columns of rock, in the dining room. The tallest of these rises from the ground up past the mezzanine gallery to the eaves of the house. In the dining room patio doors open on to one of the terraces and there is spiral staircase to the mezzanine bedroom with both a single and a double bed, leading to a double bedroom with its en-suite shower room.

The lounge

On the ground floor the large lounge features an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and a stone staircase. This room is the hub of the house, off which you find the dining room, the downstairs double bedroom and also the fully fitted kitchen. There is a utility/shower room with basin, W.C., washing-machine and tumble-drier and the back door leading to another terrace.

The kitchen

The stone staircase leads to the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and also another twin bedroom and its shower room.  The downstairs bedroom and shower room make the house suitable for wheelchair users and physically disabled people.
